Since its recent release, the Skoda Kodiaq has added a few new variants to the range to meet the needs of the market. The Skoda Kodiaq 2019 now has 4×4, the Sportline 4×4 and the seven seater introduced in 2017. These are all offered with a petrol or diesel engine, and they have various levels of equipment based on the variant chosen. With all of the available choices, it can be hard to choose which Skoda Kodiaq will best suit your needs. In this article, we will show three things that you need to know before you buy your Kodiaq.
The Base Level Specification
The Skoda Kodiaq price is a fantastic value proposition, and this is reflected in the specification of the entry level model. The entry level Kodiaq 4×4 132TSI petrol powered model includes the following kit as standard: leather upholstery, dual zone air conditioning, adaptive cruise control, a rear view camera, a 9.2” gesture controlled infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, Bluetooth hands free mobile operation and audio streaming, front door umbrellas, and 19” alloy wheels. This specification is built on as you ascend through the lineup and you can further customise your Kodiaq with a number of option packs.
Skoda Kodiaq Option Packs
The first choice that you need to make is the colour. There are seven colours to choose from, and most have a metallic or pearl finish. Other individual options can be added; they are a sunroof, 19” Triglav anthracite alloy wheels, and a three or five year servicing pack. There are other option packs with bundled options for more value; they are the Tech pack and the Luxury pack.
The Tech pack plenty of extra tech, such as adaptive chassis control, hands free tailgate use, a drive mode selector, automatic parking, maneuvering braking assist, a ten speaker stereo system and vehicle personalisation options.
The Luxury pack adds equipment, such as perforated leather seats, electric front heated front and rear seats with memory, blind spot detection, traffic jam assist, emergency assist, rear cross traffic alert, side folding powered wing mirrors with auto dimming, surround area view and three zone climate control.
Driver Assistance and Safety Features
As you can see from the base specification and the options offered in the tech and luxury packs, there are plenty of driver assistance and safety features available. The entry level Kodiaq mandatory safety features include traction and stability controls, nine airbags and antilock brakes. These are supplemented by more safety tech depending on the model chosen, such as: front assist (with city braking), front and rear parking sensors, driver fatigue detection, electronic differential lock, a rear view camera , multi-collision braking, tyre pressure monitoring, rain sensors, adaptive cruise control and a rain braking system. The only way to supplement this initial safety tech is to install either or both of the optional packs.
