Strengthening its foothold in the compact hatchback space, Maruti Suzuki introduced a spruced-up Alto a few years back. In its entirety, the Alto K10 is not just an Alto with a bigger and peppier engine. The Alto K10 is squarely aimed at the folks that had always felt the need for more grunt under the hood of India’s best-selling car.
Maruti has given the Alto K10 an all-new personality, ensuring the folks spending more for the K10 engine get some extras in the mix. So, what you have here is an Alto that looks much better thanks to the all-new headlamps, grille, bonnet, and mild creases on the panel that make the whole design a bit more exciting than its 800cc sibling. The tail-section is also all-new, but there is some resemblance to its smaller sibling when viewed in profile.
Just like the 800, this one doesn’t get alloy wheels or fog lamps even on the top-spec trim. The interiors, however, are a notch above the rest in terms of quality and detailing, especially the piano black finish in the centre console. Also, Alto K10 takes the whole package a step further with the option of an AMT in the VXi trim. Let’s see what more to the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 down below.

Specifications
A look at the Alto K10, and it’s evident that Maruti Suzuki has tickled with the overall dimensions for that big car look. And it sure looks bigger – well, at least in comparison. The Alto K10 is 3,545mm in length, 1,490mm in width, and 1,475mm in height. The wheelbase, however, remains the same at 2,360mm. The kerb weight is 740 kg, and ground clearance is 160mm. Sadly, the boot space capacity also remains identical at 177-litre.
Under the hood, the Alto K10, as the name suggests, is powered by the company’s K-series 998cc motor which is capable of churning out 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. It is a three-cylinder unit and comes mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT. This powertrain is a gem. It loves to rev and the power delivery is brisk. The five-speed manual is a slick-shifting unit, while the AMT is smooth enough to get the job done.
Mileage
The Alto K10 is, without a doubt, one of the most frugal cars in the country. For the petrol-manual and petrol-AMT, the ARAI-certified mileage is the same at 23.95km/l. The CNG-manual version, though, is capable of a whopping 32.26km/l. The fuel tank capacity is 35-litre.
Features
Only recently, Maruti Suzuki launched an all-new VXi+ variant for the standard Alto with the Smartplay Studio infotainment system. Keeping that in mind, we expect Maruti Suzuki to update the K10 with the same soon enough. Other than that, there’s not much to report about the features of the K10. It still gets all the essentials from the segment standpoint.
Colours
The Alto K10, as of early-2020, comes in five shades, namely, Solid White, Silky Silver, Granite Grey, Tango Orange, and Blazing Red. Sufficed to say, the Alto K10 looks good in each and every shade. The Granite Grey shade, though, makes it look more premium than others in the segment.
